When US forces struck the Venezuelan capital and ousted the country’s president Nicolás Maduro on Saturday, it turned one of President Donald Trump’s rhetorical threats into reality.

The Trump administration plans to halt billions of dollars in federal funding for social services programs in five states led by Democrats following allegations of fraud.

As well as thanking noted vaccine skeptic and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for his part in the dramatic change, Trump said, “Many Americans, especially the ‘MAHA Moms,’ have been praying for these COMMON SENSE reforms for many years.”

More actions are expected, including possible payments to compensate Jan. 6 defendants, as the White House launches a webpage dedicated to Trump's claims.

Denmark’s prime minister urged the U.S. to increase its military presence in Greenland but the White House showed little interest in the offer.

It comes after Nicolás Maduro and his wife were seized from Caracas and flown to the US. They have since appeared at a New York court.
